Driving Question: How Can Words Capture Emotions?

Project description: Students developed ideas for poetry using Kidspiration. The ideas were then downloaded and opened in Word. In Word, students added words to poems, used word processing, spell check, changed font and size and also added a picture through clip art to "fancy" things up. Then students uploaded finished poems to VoiceThread. In VoiceThread, student read poems, and other students commented on the poem. Students also recorded a self-reflection of their work and answered any questions that were posed to them.Student will share with one another any suggestions for improving the project, students will also self-reflect on project. We will use VoiceThread for reflection...this also will provide ownership of project and of comments.

Work Samples

Here are a few samples of student work.

Reflection: The technology I chose really fit my project. Each piece of the helped or enhanced the project. I don't think that I needed all the Atomic Learning lessons that I had. I'm glad that I had them loaded in my wiki just in case...
I am more likely to take on another project like this. The students seems much more intuitive and SO excited to engage in this kind of learning. I found that students will often get sidetracked and this structure of gave them a purpose and end point. Having the process step by step on the wiki helped.
Students also used fancying up skills in word processing and were really excited to try to make their poems look better and special. They switched fonts, and even added clip art.
No trees were destroyed in the making of this project....:) Thanks for all your support Andy...you made it easier to pull this off...
